Finding the perfect second home!

If you’re considering owning property in one of the premier second home destinations in the United States, I’d like to share with you a few reasons why you might want to consider a second home in east Tennessee.

  1. We are within one day’s driving distance of 70% of the population of the US.  That means you probably are located within an easy drive from your home. That’s a feature for a purchase. Because so many other people find it convenient, when you want to sell your second home, you’ll have many interested buyers.
  2. We are located beside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is the most visited national park in the United States. 11 million visitors make it our way each year.  Support of it creates a deep and rich family legacy for those who own property beside the park. It provides your family with roots, particularly as you visit each year, deepening and widening the memories with your loved ones. The natural resource found in the beauty of the mountains provides you and your family members a solid foundation as well as enriching their lives. On a side note, these visitors can also stay in your second home while you’re not here and help to reduce the cost of owning it. The rental fees could even end up paying the mortgage for you each month!
  3. We are a tourist destination. Most of our population is made up of people on vacation. Therefore, our local workforce is full of resources to care for your home away from home. Between contractors to maintain it, handymen to do quick fixes, and cleaners to refresh it and keep it pristine, you won’t find it difficult to take care of.
  4. Another great reason to choose to have a second home in the Great Smoky Mountains is it’s a step toward retiring to our area. Many of our clients who purchased a second home enjoy it and then retire here. In the meantime, it gives them an anchor to eventually becoming a Tennessean. Sometimes they even choose a cabin as a second home that will eventually become their “forever home.” When that’s their goal, we choose something for them that we know–with a small bit of remodeling, or the addition of a garage–will serve perfectly as a retirement destination.
  5. Many people also find having Tennessee property to their advantage on taxes. Your CPA can tell you more about how to best make a cabin part of your personal investment portfolio.
  6. Last of all: because we’re so doggone friendly! Our pace of life is slower and so conservative closer to the mountains. Many of you need a refuge and a place to refresh, and you can find it here!

This month I want to share my favorite second home with you. You can see this cabin on our website by clicking here. For a second home, this cabin named “Glacier Falls” is just the right size to support a growing family that often vacations with their loved ones. It has a handsome indoor pool and an incredible outside fire pit for entertaining. The open floor plan allows for flexibility and many dining options. It’s a fantastic second home. Let us know if you’d like to take a look or want help finding something similar.
